Women in Sports is a playing card game that is created to celebrate and shine the spotlights onto the talents and achievements of Women in Sports around the world. The players can learn about our women in sports, the different sports compettitions, and different types of sports, while playing the game.

Sports have always electrified our society, sparking stories of dedication, sheer athleticism, and the unique power to unite people. They’re not just fun and entertaining; they’re emotional experiences that connect us all on a deeper level.

The Boston Marathon, established in 1897, originally only allowed men to compete. Everything changed in 1967 when Kathrine Switzer entered the race under the gender-ambiguous name “K.V. Switzer” and completed the 42 km route. This bold move breaks norms and proved that women could handle the challenge. Two years later, the marathon opened its doors to everyone. Women breaking barriers in sports is nothing new—look at Babe Didrikson Zaharias, who won three medals at the 1932 Olympics and competed in men only golf tournaments, thriving in the era when women is not encouraged to participate in sports.

While throughout history, both genders share an exceptional skill level, nowadays, women’s sports have received less attention, funding, media coverage, and recognition than their male counterparts. Our process of the game delves into what made women find themselves left in the shadows, while men get to shine in the spotlight. We realised that the gender bias is not a reflection of ability, dedication, or passion, but rather a matter of the societal perception ties with gender bias and stereotypes that persists in the sports world
